| Requirement: | The scholarships are intended for guest students or researchers belonging to any of the above mentioned countries and target groups, applying for full-time studies/research in Sweden. There is no age limit for the scholarship holders. Please note that to be eligible for a scholarship at PhD level you must be enrolled in ongoing PhD studies at a university outside Sweden. Please also note that to be eligible for a scholarship at Postdoctoral level you must be holder of a PhD degree, preferably from 2007 or later. You can still apply if you expect to get your PhD degree shortly. However, you must be able to show that you successfully defended your PhD thesis no later than April 15, 2012. However, you are not eligible for this scholarship if any of the following is true: * You have already lived in Sweden for two years of more when the scholarship period is due to begin. * You have a Swedish permanent residence permit. * You have a Swedish work permit and you are not an EU citizen. * You are applying for a scholarship at Postdoctoral level, but you do not hold any PhD degree, and will not be able to defend your PhD thesis before April 15, 2012. * You are applying for a scholarship at PhD level, but you are not enrolled in ongoing PhD studies at a university outside Sweden. Applicants previously awarded a scholarship from the SI for study or research at a Swedish university are most welcome to apply, but will not be given priority. |

If you wish to apply for subsequent funding you must apply within a new Call for Applications. The scholarship is designed to cover the cost of living for the scholarship holder only. | Requirement: | • A degree, a sub-degree or a diploma awarded by a recognised post-secondary institution; • An International Baccalaureate Diploma; • High School Diploma plus minimum of 1650 on SAT I^; • Satisfactory completion of the first year in a four-year undergraduate curriculum or the first year of a sub-degree programme of a recognized post-secondary institution; • Satisfactory completion of two years of full-time study in a post-Form Five institution, e.g. a technical institute; • Other equivalent qualifications which the University will consider on a case-by-case basis. | Facility: | The scholarship covers both the tuition fee (which is paid directly to the Swedish university/university college by the Swedish Institute) and living expenses to the amount of SEK 8,000 per month. The scholarship is only awarded for programs starting in the fall semester 2012 (August) and is granted for of one academic year, i.e. for two semesters at a time. It will be extended for programs longer than two semesters provided that the study results are satisfactory. The scholarship is designed to cover living costs and study expenses for the scholarship holder. There are no grants for family members. The granted scholarship period cannot be altered or extended beyond the study program period nor can the scholarship be transferred to another study program at a Swedish university. |

| Apply Procedure: | Prior to applying for a scholarship, the student must first apply for a study program at Master’s or Bachelor’s level via www.universityadmissions.se, an online application service for study programs in Sweden. About 600 different study programs at Swedish universities are eligible for a scholarship. The programs have been selected by the Swedish universities and cover a wide variety of study areas. The list of eligible study programs can be found here. As soon as the results of Swedish university admission have been published at www.universityadmissions.se, the online service for the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships will open. Please note that only admitted students can apply for a scholarship. The scholarship application period will be March 14-25, 2012. A list of successful candidates will be published at www.studyinsweden.se and www.si.se in mid-April. |
